Strong Showing for Mayville XC with 12 PR’s at Campbellsport Invite

Mayville cross country turned in another strong effort at the Campbellsport Invite on Thursday, Oct. 9, with 12 runners setting personal bests on a challenging course. The varsity girls finished fourth out of 14 teams with 73 total runners competing. The varsity boys placed 10th out of 14 teams and 93 total runners. The JV girls secured a first-place team finish.

“Our varsity runners showed real progress today. They’re competing hard and putting together the kind of efforts we need heading into conference,” said the Mayville coaching staff.

Medal performances came from Sidney Davis (7th), Mette Genz (21st), and Crystall Mueller (24th) in varsity competition. In the JV race, Helen Vanderloop placed 2nd, Alex Shoemaker (3rd), Pearl Witek (7th), and Layla Budahn (9th).

While the boys did not earn medals, several turned in their best races of the season, including Adam Boehnlein, Caden Lindgren, Reid Schmidt, Phoenix Ellingson, and Alex Richter, all recording personal-best times.

Next week, Mayville will compete at the Conference meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Fond du Lac. Race times are 4:00 p.m. for the varsity girls, 4:45 p.m. varsity boys, and 5:25 p.m. for junior high teams.
