Board surveying residents on desired qualities in next leader

Posted

The School District of Horicon has launched its search for the next superintendent and is seeking input from families, staff, and community residents in choosing the District’s next leader when Rich Appel retires in June.
Appel has served as superintendent in Horicon for the last nine years, and retires after 37 years as an educator.
“We are grateful for Rich’s leadership throughout the past nine years,” said Board of Education President Meredith Strieff. “We look forward to hearing from candidates excited to build on the strong foundation our District has built and help us continue to improve, move forward, and
create opportunities for students.”
The position is posted on WECAN, and applications are due by March 11, 2025.

The School District of Horicon Board of Education is asking families, staff and community members to fill out a brief survey sharing the skills, values, experience and priorities they’d like to see in the next superintendent. The survey is available on the District’s website, and closes
Monday, March 10.
The District hired Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) 6 to lead the board through the search process. The CESA 6 team will screen applicants and present candidates to the Board on March 19. The Board will choose finalists who will be interviewed on March 31, and intends to finalize the hiring of a new superintendent by mid-April for the position’s July 1 start date.
