Mayville Track Wraps Up Season Strong at McFarland Sectional

MAYVILLE TRACK AND FIELD

The Mayville Track and Field team closed out its 2025 season with strong performances at the WIAA Division 2 Sectional Meet held in McFarland on Friday, May 30. All of the Cardinals' sectional qualifiers matched or surpassed their season-best marks, a testament to their hard work and focus on one of the biggest stages of the year.

Mac Livingston capped off a stellar season by tying his season-best pole vault height of 12’0”, placing ninth out of 18 vaulters. He also turned in his fastest 110m high hurdles race of the year, clocking 15.99 seconds to take sixth. Teammate Emmerson Mittelstadt also made the finals in the hurdles, finishing eighth in 16.45 seconds.

In the field events, Joren Schlender long jumped 20’11.75” to place seventh, with teammate Braxton Wiese leaping 19’5.75”. Schlender also competed in the triple jump, landing 12th overall with a mark of 39’3.25”.

Both sprint relays put together season-best times as well. The 4x100m relay team of Schlender, Livingston, Wiese, and Chase Merritt ran 45.28 for 10th place. The same foursome also clocked 1:34.48 in the 4x200m, good for another 10th-place finish.

On the girls' side, Lydia Case tied her season best in the pole vault, clearing 8’6” to tie for 10th place.

“There were some awesome athletes in this meet,” said Coach Berry. “And Mayville was well represented.”

With sectional finishes and season bests across the board, the Cardinals concluded their season on a high note, showing they could compete among the state’s best.

Mayville Track Advances Seven Events to D2 Sectionals at Waupun Regional

Mayville Track and Field traveled to Waupun on Tuesday, May 27, for the WIAA Division 2 Regional Meet. The boys' team placed fourth overall with 80.5 points in a competitive field led by Winneconne, while the girls finished eighth with 23.5 points. Despite tough team finishes, several Cardinals delivered standout performances to earn sectional qualifications, awarded to the top four finishers in each event.

Leading the charge was Joren Schlender, who claimed the regional title in the triple jump with a mark of 41’5” and a personal record. He also placed second in the long jump (20’6”) and joined teammates Braxton Wiese, Mac Livingston, and Chase Merritt on both qualifying sprint relays. The 4x100m relay took second with a time of 45.46 seconds, while the 4x200m placed third in 1:35.26. Wiese also punched his ticket to sectionals with a third-place finish in the long jump (20’2.25”).

Mac Livingston continued his strong postseason with a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles (16.24) and a third-place pole vault clearance of 11’6”. Emmerson Mittelstadt joined him in the high hurdles, grabbing fourth in 16.89 seconds to secure his sectional berth.

On the girls' side, Lydia Case advanced in the pole vault, clearing 8’6” for a fourth-place finish, making her the only Mayville girl to qualify for Sectionals.

Following the regional meet, both Livingston and Schlender were recognized for their consistency and high-level performance throughout the season, becoming the seventh and eighth highest single-season point scorers in Mayville track history.
