Mayville had limited representation at the Sgt. Andrew Wallace Memorial Scramble in Ripon on Saturday, Dec. 27, but still came away with a positive showing. Freshman Kalvin Ditscheit was the lone Cardinal to compete due to injuries and illness within the lineup. Ditscheit posted a strong 3-2 record on the day, improving his overall season mark to 5-6.
Ditscheit opened the tournament with a loss to Cayden Myhre of Lakeside Lutheran by fall at 5:10 in the championship first round, followed by a second-round championship loss to Dash Ludwig of Portage by fall at 1:56. He responded in consolation action with a pair of wins, earning a fall over Abel Welsing of Winnebago Lutheran at 2:44 and closing out the day with a fall in 0:44 against Alexander Anaya of Wautoma/Wild Rose.
Mayville returned to action on the road Tuesday, Jan. 6, competing in a boys’ varsity triangular at Omro in a meet held after print time. The Cardinals remain on the road this weekend, traveling to North Fond du Lac on Saturday, Jan. 10, for tournament action beginning at 8 a.m.
