The Mayville Cardinals continued their hot streak Tuesday, May 13, earning their ninth consecutive win with a 4–1 road victory over conference rival Laconia.
After falling behind 1–0 early, the Cardinals chipped away with timely offense and solid pitching. Weston Teeters delivered the big swing, launching a solo home run and going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Bobby Held added an RBI sacrifice fly, and Brent Seiler drove in a key run as well. Austin Thoreson collected two hits, and Mason Gerth roped a triple and scored once.
Gerth also shined on the mound, going the distance with a complete game four-hitter. He allowed just one earned run, didn’t issue a walk, and struck out four.
Mayville, now (15-4,8-3), looks to keep the momentum rolling. Thursday’s rematch against Laconia, this time on their home field, was postponed due to impending storms.
