The Mayville girls basketball team closed out the regular season on a high note Thursday, Feb. 19, earning a 67–51 conference road win over Campbellsport (2-22,0-14).
The Cardinals (6-18, 2-12) led 36–21 at halftime and maintained control in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 31–30 to secure the victory. With the win, Mayville improves to 2-0 in the series against Campbellsport since 2025.
Beyond the team win, another piece of school history was matched. According to head coach Beebe, freshman Brielle Ehlers tied the single-season school record for blocked shots with 56. The mark was originally set during the 2000–01 season by Tammy (Backhaus) Casper, mother of 2025 graduate Kyleigh Casper. Ehlers reached the milestone in Friday’s game, giving her a chance to claim the record outright in postseason play.
The victory snaps a recent skid for the Cardinals, who had dropped five straight conference contests entering the game. Mayville now turns its attention to the postseason.
The No. 9-seeded Cardinals will travel Tuesday, Feb. 24, to take on No. 8-seeded Berlin in a WIAA Division 3 Regional matchup, looking to build momentum off their strong finish to the regular season.
