Wrapping Up 2025 and Looking Forward to 2026

Posted

Horicon,
We had both a trying year and a successful year here in our great little city.
No matter what the challenge was, be it tornadoes, multiple 100-year rainstorms, fires at downtown businesses, personnel changes, or early heavy snows, our City employees and residents were up to the task and took care of whatever was needed. Not only did you take care of it, but you also ran with the responsibility in front of you and improved our City immensely. Character is judged during adversity... and the character of our City employees, our partners, and our residents is second to none.
We also welcomed some needed businesses, processes, and critical infrastructure upgrades in 2025, as well. The largest undertaking in a long time is soon to commence with the new Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). Most of the groundwork for that project was laid out in 2025, and early in 2026, our Utilities and City Hall folks will be able to go through all the final details and numbers for residents.
Horicon completed a major road reconstruction of E Walnut Street over the summer, and it looks fantastic. While many of us are still getting used to being able to drive both ways on there, the road and underlying utilities should better serve our community for decades to come. Curry Road between S Finch and Colonial Dr. is also under construction, and soon, new units will be available for sale in that neighborhood. The CityView Development is almost completely filled, which is great news for our City.

Horicon now has multiple places to stop for morning coffee and baked goods, places where you can get Thai or Mexican food for lunch, which complement our other restaurants, and multiple places in town where people from all around come for dinner. That is great progress, and it could not happen without you.
In 2026, not only do we have the WWTF starting construction, but we also have the aforementioned S Finch subdivision, an upper-mid scale hotel, and other business arrivals to look forward to here in Horicon. Hopefully, some of the changes here in Horicon will attract more athletic tournaments, regionals, and sectionals here as well. There are also so many changes happening at City Hall that will quietly roll out throughout the year, and they are working hard to make the transitions smooth and seamless.
On behalf of City elected officials and City employees, thank you for giving us the tools that allow us to serve you, the residents of Horicon, as best we can. 2025 was a year that Horicon developed character and resilience and 2026 will be even better.
Have a Happy New Year!
