The School District of Horicon has selected Mrs. Katie Schwartz as the unanimous choice for the District’s next superintendent of schools. Schwartz will succeed Rich Appel upon his retirement after nine years serving the District.
Board President Meredith Strieff said that Schwartz will help the district continue its journey toward excellence.
“Through our exhaustive process, it was evident immediately that the most highly qualified candidate to run our district was Mrs. Schwartz,” said Strieff. “She lives here, works here, understands Horicon, and is going to move our children forward for a better Horicon.”
Schwartz is currently the District’s director of special education and student learning. She has worked in public education for over 20 years and has served in her current role in Horicon for seven years.
“I am excited to move into the superintendency,” stated Schwartz. “Being the superintendent of schools in the city I grew up in allows me to support our future, build off of our success, and increase our ability to be Horicon Strong.”
