Officer Stocks of Horicon Promoted to Sergeant

Greyson Stocks, known as the Horicon School Resource Officer, was promoted and sworn in as the newest Sergeant at the City of Horicon Common Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Council Matters:
• The council approved the reconstruction plans presented for East Walnut and North Cedar Street. They also authorized for the project to go to bid.
• The council approved a change order from Kopplin & Kinas Co Inc. for the Juneau, Nebraska and Centre Street reconstruction project.
• Section 310-9(D)(1) of ordinance 2025-01, relating to the lock box key, was changed to say the Horicon Fire Department and Police Department will be the holders of the lock box key.

• Mill Street parking lot fees have been approved to change to $20 per month.
• The council approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford Police Interceptor from Ewald Automotive Group in the amount of $44,927.
• Discussion was held on whether the City should move forward in the process of potentially selling a parcel of land located at Mill Street and South Vine Street, and the council agreed they could do that.
• The council approved of the disposal of a total of 14 pistols from the police department.
• The council adopted the World Migratory Bird Day resolution, 2025-01.
• The City will sign the 2025 Bird City application and the Marsh Area Chamber of Commerce, who is submitting the application, will be reimbursed the application fee in the amount of $175.
The next Common Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.
