On Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, Michael Patrick Sonnentag, 41, was unexpectedly called to the Lord, leaving us in shock, but trusting in God’s plan. A devoted father, hardworking farmer, loyal son, brother, and friend, Mike lived a life rooted in fath, family, and the land he cherished.
Michael was born in Eau Claire, on July 29, 1984, to the parents of Pat and Sheri Sonnentag.
He treasured every moment spent with family while teaching life lessons in the fields, casting a line while fishing, heading out for a hunt, and watching his kids wrestle. His greatest joy was being ‘DAD’. He dedicated his life to farming by moving to Cadott for work. If not found at work, you could find Michael outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing, and finding peace and purpose in nature.
Michael is survived by his parents, Pat and Sheri Sonnentag; his children, Kaleb, Iszybelle, Aiydan, and Llyam; his siblings, LeAnn Smith, Audrey Welch, Joseph (Sadie) Sonnentag, and Zachary Sonnentag; nieces and nephews, Bryanna and Jacob Smith, Connor and McKenzzie Welch, Aydien, Adeena, and Jayda Sonnentag.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Philip and Rosemary Sonnentag, Ann Newman, and Leonard Rasmussen; and his nephew, Tyler Smith.
Michael had this laugh and sarcasm that will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at 12 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira.
