Meredith Lynn Arnold

Posted

Meredith Lynn Arnold, long time resident of Mayville, died suddenly January 27, 2026, at her home while being treated for small cell lung cancer, at age 75.
Meredith was born February 22, 1950, in West Allis, to Lester and Audrey (Remmel) Arnold and joined her older brother, Wayne. The family moved several times in Michigan but returned to West Bend, for Meredith’s four years of high school, graduating with the class of 1968. Meredith attended UW-Washington County.
Meredith worked in finance at several area car dealers. When she retired, the owner begged her to stay.
Meredith left a legacy of devoted and loving high school, co-worker, neighbor and local friends. Meredith did not travel widely, being content with her Mayville home of 30 years, which she expertly remodeled, and being with her loyal friends of many years.
Meredith always had a dog, usually a rescue. Meredith was a joyful, vibrant and independent woman. She was funny, quick-witted, savvy in business and self-taught craftsman – one-of-a-kind treasure to those fortunate enough to know her. Meredith left financial bequests to her brother, created by a lifetime of frugal living.
Meredith is survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sandy Arnold of Apollo Beach, FL; and niece, Catherine Buckland, husband, Brian, and grand-nieces in Denver and nephew, David Arnold, wife, Michelle, and grand-nephews in Oakland, CA, many cousins and special aunt, Noreen.
Meredith was predeceased by her father and mother and many aunts and uncles.
Her high school friends already had a party in her honor and another party is scheduled for what would have been her 76th birthday.
Meredith’s ashes will be buried next to her parents in Washington County Memorial Park in the summer with another gathering at the time.
Memorials may be given in her name to a local food pantry of your choice – a cause she always supported.
If a person’s worth is measured by one’s friends, then Meredith was rich indeed.
