Mayville’s Parker Bangart Punches Ticket to State Wrestling Meet

WIAA D2 Regionals - Kewaskum

Saturday, Feb. 15

Despite battling illness that sidelined most of the team, Mayville sent two wrestlers to the regional tournament in Kewaskum on Saturday, Feb. 15, showing resilience on the mat.

Parker Bangart led the way, securing a third-place finish in the 120-pound bracket to punch his ticket to Sectionals. In his decisive match, Bangart dominated Julio Estrada of Sheboygan Falls with a technical fall victory (22-5) in 5:35.

Colton Carpenter also put up a strong fight in his matches but fell short of advancing. His effort and determination were evident, representing Mayville with pride.

Bangart looked to keep his momentum going at Sectionals as he vied for a trip to State.

WIAA D2 Sectionals - Waupun

Saturday, Feb. 22

Mayville freshman Parker Bangart is headed to the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament after a strong performance at Sectionals in the 120-pound weight class on Saturday, Feb. 22. Bangart, who holds a 31-11 record, will take the mat Thursday night in Madison. Bangart battled through the bracket to secure a third-place finish and a trip to State.

Following Mayville tradition, the Mayville Fire Department celebrated the state achievement with a fire truck parade down Main Street around 6 p.m. Saturday, lights flashing and sirens blaring.

Bangart now shifts his focus to the state tournament, looking to make an impact in his first trip to Madison.
