The Mayville girls basketball team battled through a challenging week, facing Oakfield, St. Mary’s Springs, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
On Monday, Jan. 27, the Cardinals fell to Oakfield in a hard-fought 44-38 loss. After a slow start in the first half, Mayville outscored Oakfield 28-9 in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback. Ellie Wojahn and Leah Budahn led the scoring effort with 13 points each.
Tuesday’s matchup against St. Mary’s Springs saw another tough contest, with Mayville falling 58-40. Budahn paced the offense with 12 points, while Molly Grulke added 10. The Cardinals fought on the boards, pulling down 35 rebounds as a team.
Mayville wrapped up the week with a Friday night battle against Winnebago Lutheran Academy but came up short, 57-42. Wojahn and Budahn once again led the charge with 13 points apiece, while Madison Justman contributed six.
The Cardinals have a lighter schedule this week, welcoming Omro on Thursday, Feb. 6, with a 6:15 p.m. tip-off.
