Lomira Girls Basketball Beats Springs with a Last-Second Three-Pointer

On February 11, Lomira girls basketball beat Campbellsport 50-21 in their conference matchup.
Lomira (15-8, 8-5) jumped out to an 8-0 lead over Campbellsport (3-19, 1-12), thanks to six points from freshman Josie Christian.
J. Christian hit a three-pointer, and Savanna Frea scored in the post to put the Lions ahead 17-7 over the Cougars.
Lomira got another three-pointer from J. Christian to get a 20-9 lead at the halftime break.

The Lions scored the first eight points of the second half, featuring two baskets from S. Frea to push their lead out to 28-9.
J. Christian was able to get free for her third three-pointer of the game to take a 31-12 lead before Lomira continued to extend their lead after baskets from J. Christian and S. Frea for a commanding lead of 41-18.
Lomira closed out their 50-21 conference victory in the matchup of the two league rivals.
The Lions were led by Josie Christian with 19 points, while Savanna Frea added 12 points and 16 rebounds in the contest.
At Springs
On February 14, Lomira girls basketball beat Springs 47-46 by making a last-second three-point shot.
Lomira (15-8, 8-5) traveled to Springs (16-6, 10-3) on a snowy night for a conference showdown with the second-place Ledgers.
The Lions held an 18-15 lead over the Ledgers before Springs closed out the first half with an 8-4 run to take a 23-22 lead before the halftime break.
It was a back-and-forth game, with Lomira holding a 37-35 lead before the Ledgers went on a 6-0 run to take a 41-37 lead over the Lions.
The Ledgers were clinging to a 46-44 lead with eight seconds left on the clock when the ball found Kennedy Goebel behind the three-point line.
Goebel calmly took in the pass and knocked the open three-point shot to give Lomira a 47-46 lead over Springs.
The Lions were able to secure the 47-46 conference victory in the final seconds, thanks to the freshman’s big shot at the end of the game.
Josie Christian led Lomira with 20 points in the conference road victory.
Lomira hosts Mayville on February 20 at 7 p.m. for their senior night.
The Lions received a four-seed and first-round bye in the Division 4 WIAA Girls Basketball tournament.
