Jeanette M. (Schrauth) Oechsner

Posted

Jeanette M. (Schrauth) Oechsner passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was reunited with her husband Russell on July 28, 2026, at The Gardens in Hartford.
Jeanette was born to Roman and Loretta (Nee Bonack) Schrauth on the family farm in LeRoy, on April 27, 1927. She graduated St. Andrew’s Catholic school in LeRoy and Mayville High School.
She was united in marriage to Russell Oechsner in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy on June 30, 1945. Together they had five sons, Dennis (Beverly), Terry (Nancy), David (Denise), all of Hartford, Thomas (Gail) of Slinger, and Russ (Sue) of Hubertus.
Jeanette and Russell started married life in Mayville, later moving to Beaver Dam, and then to Hubertus. Together they were avid campers and fishermen. Fishing for walleyes, panfish, and the “mighty” muskie. She was very proud of the fact that she was the Muskie Club of Wisconsin women’s state champion in 1987 with a 26-pound, 47 inch “wall hanger.”
After Russell passed in 1982, Jeanette moved to Hartford, where she enjoyed participating in ceramics classes, creating countless gifts and curios. She loved playing Hand and Foot with her Hubertus friends and Thursday morning bowling. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe and much of the United States. She was a huge country music fan, and Branson, MO, was a repeat destination as was Florida, where she had a ringside seat to a space shuttle launch.
Jeanette is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, as well as 13 grandchildren, Eric (Liesel), Bryan (Heather), Chris (Erin), Megan (Jerry) Vinopal, Alison (Tyler) Kreuser, Whitney, Adam, Amy (Chris) McManigal, Jennifer, Jesse (Kristin), Matt (Kiersten), Ryan and Kevin. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents, Roman and Loretta; her brother, Myron; her in-laws, Linus and Lucy Oechsner; 11 brothers and sisters-in-law; and her great-grandson, Denny.
Services were held at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford on July 31. Internment at St. Gabriel’s cemetery in Hubertus.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to the St. Kilian School Endowment Fund.
A special thank you to the staff of The Gardens and Brighton Hospice for the wonderful care and attention Jeanette was given.
