Horicon Boys Basketball Concludes January with High-Scoring Victory

While the week started with a loss at Fall River (9-8, 6-2), 62-29, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Horicon boys basketball team concluded the week with an exciting win at Lourdes on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Senior Quinten Brown had a solid week on offense leading the Marshmen with 17 points on Tuesday and 34 on Thursday, 24 of those coming from three-pointers.
Horicon had a 20-point lead at halftime over Lourdes (3-13, 2-7), 44-24.
“Defensively, we played a very solid first half,” said Head Coach Jay Wald. “Our guards especially played well, putting pressure on them and forcing turnovers.”
The Marshmen added 50 points in the second half to take the game 94-61 over the Knights.

Barrett Meyer contributed 19 points and Jay Graven contributed 16 points to assist Brown in the away-game win.
“Well, we shot the ball really well Friday night,” Wald added. “Seventeen threes as a team is a good night.”
With a month to go in the regular season, Horicon has a 7-6 overall record and 3-3 record in conference, putting them at fifth in the Tailways-East.
“It was a great team win on the road,” Wald said. “Playing 10 of 11 games on the road can get tough on kids so it was nice to come away with a victory.”
This week, Horicon will compete against Central Wisconsin Christian twice, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, after print time, and Saturday, Feb. 8 at home at 7:15 p.m. They will play a game in between at home against Valley Christian on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:15 p.m.
