The Golden Youth Seniors of Iron Ridge met at the Community Center for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, led by our President Darlene Rios. Our Vice President Merle had a joke and then our President Darlene said a prayer with 28 members present. We very much welcome our President Darlene back with us.
We enjoyed our delicious dinner by Caterer Diane and dessert as well.
We sang Happy Birthday to two members today, Bobbie Stachowiak and Mary Rusch.
Our 50/50 raffle was won by Virgil Ferry.
Our guest was Nancy Kohlmann from Heartfelt Floral and Gift Shop of Lomira. She made us two autumn floral centerpieces and brought along several gift items from her shop. Her and her husband have this shop. She is a mother of four and grandma for 11. They also have two part-time employees. She remembers helping in her grandma’s floral shop as a young girl and her grandma always served cookies to her customers. She also remembers how in the past, every mother would have a corsage to wear on Mother’s Day. Times have changed. Nance advised us to change cut flower water often to last longer and put plant food in the water. It comes in small packets. The flowers are kept in a cooler at 40 degrees. COVID hit her business hard since there was no contact with anyone. Many orders were done from their vehicle and cell phones with messages and photos of what they wanted. You can also bring your own containers for arrangements. An open house will be held November 12-14 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. with a 20% discount. The four door prizes were won by Shirley Rotta, Judy Dutton, Dan Hintz and Jerry Falkenstein.
The Secretary report was given as well as the Treasurer’s report given and approved for audit.
President Darlene thanked Vice President Merle for taking over for her in her absence.
At our November meeting, we will have a Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Caterer Diane with dessert. We will have donations for the food pantry and also a voluntary donation for a family who can use some uplifting happiness for the holiday season. Larry Moldenhauer will be delivering this to a family. November 11 is Veterans Day with hope we have a message from a veteran.
Our December meeting will be our Christmas party with a two-meat dinner catered by Diane. Our gift to Diane will be from our treasury. The treasury will also give Bonnie Thomas money for three door prizes this year. We will play bingo with a nice prize valued at $5.
Functions in the area:
December 5 - Cookie & Candy Sale with many raffle baskets from 9 a.m. -2 p.m., sponsored by TCC & Friends, Inc. at Trinity Community Center, N6409 Hwy. P, Mayville.
November 15 - Gun & Meat Raffle sponsored by Iron Ridge Lions at the Iron Ridge Inn
Our meeting was adjourned by Larry Moldenhauer and seconded by Merle Pamperin.
Respectfully yours,
Darlene Hefter,
Secretary
