The Mayville boys basketball team kept its momentum rolling Friday night, edging Omro 67–65 in a thrilling Flyway Conference showdown at home to extend its winning streak to four games.

Locked in a tight, back-and-forth battle all night, the Cardinals found their moment in the final seconds when senior Braxton Wiese knocked down a buzzer-beating jumper, sending the home crowd into celebration and lifting Mayville to 8–5 overall and 6–2 in conference play.

Neither team was able to create much separation as the lead changed hands repeatedly throughout the game. Omro answered every Cardinal run, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

Mayville was led offensively by Tate Drinkwine, who scored 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers. Emerson Mittelstadt followed with 16 points, while Wiese added 12 points, highlighted by the game-winning shot.

On the glass, Talan Meyer recorded a double-digit effort with 10 rebounds, while also dishing out 6 assists and collecting two steals. Mittelstadt added 5 assists, helping the Cardinals finish with 17 assists as a team.

Mayville shot 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range, committing just 10 turnovers in the hard-fought win.

With the victory, Mayville continues to climb the Flyway Conference standings and will look to keep its streak alive as conference play continues next week.

Mayville (8–5, 6–2) returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 3, traveling to North Fond du Lac (4–13, 0–8) for conference play. The Cardinals then return home on Friday, Feb. 6, for a nonconference matchup against Cedar Grove–Belgium (12–3), with tipoff set for 7:10 p.m.
