Trustee JR Koenigs Honored for 22 Years of Service

Posted

The Theresa Village Board honored Trustee JR Koenigs for his 22 years of service at his last meeting as village trustee on Monday, March 17.
“On behalf of myself, the village board, and the residents of the Village of Theresa, I would like to congratulate Mr. Herman ‘JR’ Koenigs for his 22 years of dedicated service to the Village of Theresa as a board member and as a member on various committees. Twenty-two years is a long time to serve the public. It is a big commitment to give up your free time to attend meetings and to talk to the residents on issues that are going on in the village,” stated President Jody Steger. “JR, over the years, you had to make some big decisions that affected not only you but all the people that live in the village. As board members, we all strive to make our little village a place [that] people can proudly call home and a place where you can raise your family in a safe and friendly environment. So, I thank you, JR, for all your years of service and the best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.”
President Steger then read Resolution 2025-01, “A resolution recognizing and honoring...Herman Koenigs Jr. for his 22 years of dedicated service as a trustee and extending sincere appreciation to his outstanding contributions to the village.”
Following the resolution, President Steger presented Trustee JR Koenigs with a plaque.
“Twenty-two years went quite fast, so, you guys, enjoy it when you can, and just keep remembering it’s not our money. It’s the taxpayer’s money,” said Trustee JR Koenigs, after accepting the plaque. “I appreciate it. Thank you.”

Board Matters:
• The Public Safety Committee recommended the board approve a 5K run through the Village on July 12, pending proper Department of Transportation (DOT) permitting. The 5K would occur in the morning, starting and finishing at Theresa Fireman’s Park, with activities at the park to follow. The route would include sections of Highways 28 and 175, which is why DOT permitting is required. Proceeds from the event would be donated to cancer organizations. Trustee Dave Brandenburg made the motion to approve the 5K contingent on proper permitting, which passed unanimously.
• The board discussed granting Breanna Deaver an operator liquor license. Trustee Joe Haak made the motion to grant the license, which passed unanimously.
• The Public Works Committee recommended the board renew its contract with Cintas for Department of Public Works uniform rentals. A motion to renew the contract was made by Trustee Jim Polster and passed unanimously.
• The board considered approving the Theresa Fireman’s Park Maintenance Agreement. In the agreement, the village is responsible for mowing the lawn, snow removal, policing, and providing a dumpster. The Village will also reimburse the Fireman’s Park Board for water bills and provide “$1,000 annually toward the park’s maintenance fund.” The motion to approve the Theresa Fireman’s Park Maintenance Agreement was made by Trustee JR Koenigs and passed unanimously.
