Police Chief Markus updated the Village of Theresa Public Safety Committee on the order status of the police department’s new squad car at its meeting on Monday, February 10.
“We found out that the radio that was shipped to us actually didn’t have a mount for it, so that had to be shipped out. Because of the way we did the purchasing, everything was not actually ordered until we got the loan money,” stated Chief Markus. “We had a car before the loan came in, but all the parts by the company that’s actually doing the equipment installation weren’t ordered until the loan money showed up.”
“Any guestimation on the time?” inquired Trustee Joe Haak.
“I am hoping by the end of February.” Chief Markus explained, “They literally have to take everything out of the squad car–the seats, everything–and rewire it and put all of the equipment that we purchased into it... It’s not a small undertaking. It’s about 40 hours of work just in installing the stuff, but it also requires us to have the stuff in.”
Chief Markus also informed the committee that the department’s current squad car will likely need new brakes soon.
