Head Coach: Andrew Selgrad
2025 Season: 1-8 (Eastern Suburban Conference in 2026)
Husticon football enters the 2026 season with a fresh start, as nearly every position on the field will feature a new face.
Head coach Andrew Selgrad said the program graduated much of last year's roster, leaving the team with little returning varsity experience. While that presents challenges, it also creates opportunities for a new group of players to establish themselves.
"Pretty much everyone is going to be new," Selgrad said.
Despite the inexperience, Selgrad believes the team's speed will be one of its biggest strengths heading into the season.
Offensively, Husticon will continue to rely on a gap-scheme running attack, while defensively the program will line up in a 3-4 scheme.
The Marshmen's primary goal is straightforward.
"Making the playoffs," Selgrad said.
That goal won't come easily in what Selgrad expects to be another highly competitive Eastern Suburban Conference race.
"It's a really strong conference top to bottom," he said.
The schedule offers little time for the young roster to settle in.
Husticon opens the regular season on the road against a veteran Lomira squad before facing Fall River/Rio and defending Eastern Suburban Conference champion Markesan in consecutive weeks.
"We open with Lomira, who is outstanding and brings back a lot of experience," Selgrad said. "Fall River/Rio is also going to be a tough game. Markesan is the defending conference champs, so yet again, a tough opponent. Plus, Coach Dunlavy is an excellent coach. We have three tough games right off the bat."
Selgrad credits several coaches for helping shape his coaching philosophy over the years, including father-son duo Steve Jorgensen and Steven Jorgensen, Mike Gnewuch, Bob Hyland and Selgrad’s father, who also coaches alongside him, Ot Selgrad.
Husticon will be opening the regular season Friday, Aug. 21, at Lomira. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
