Madison Scharenbroch kicked off her new role as the Lomira Varsity Volleyball Coach with a four-day volleyball camp for elementary and middle school volleyball players on June 8-11.
Scharenbroch is a fifth-grade teacher at the School District of Lomira, and the Varsity Volleyball job appealed to her because the small communities allow and encourage students to be more involved in their school community.
Madison was promoted to the head varsity job after coaching as the JV1 and 8th-grade head coach in the 2025 season for the Lions program.
“I think the program needs to create a strong culture, which is something that was not a strength last year. Once the culture becomes strong, I believe wins will start to follow,” said New Lomira Volleyball coach Madison Scharenbroch.
Scharenbroch has three main initial goals for the volleyball program.
To create more opportunities for the youth program to gain more interest and knowledge in volleyball by starting a volleyball summer school class and youth camp during the summer.
“The only way for a program to succeed is to create a strong youth program,” said Scharenbroch.
Team culture creates a positive environment and encourages the group to cheer for themselves and their teammates.
Strength training will make the girls stronger and help them become stronger athletes, which in turn will create better volleyball players
Madison’s long-term goal is to create a successful and positive program for the Lomira Volleyball program.
“The most important roles as a coach are being a role model by leading the players by example, creating a positive and competitive environment and admitting your mistakes when you are wrong,” said Scharenbroch.
Scharenbroch’s first game as Lomira’s Varsity Volleyball Head Coach will be on September 3 at home against Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
