Sarah Hodgson Going to State for Discus

The Horicon track and field team spent their week at Princeton/Green Lake, starting with the Division 3 Regional on Tuesday, May 27, where the girls’ team qualified for Sectionals in seven events.
The girls’ team scored 67 points, tying with Markesan for for fifth place, and the boys scored 25 points for ninth place.
The girls that moved on to the Princeton Sectional were Alissa Cundy in the 200m race, Kaitlyn Wiard in the 800m race, Ruby Brandt in the 1600m and 3200m races, the 4x200 relay team, and Sarah Hodgson in shot put and discus. Brandt also set a PR in the 1600 race with a time of 5:52.10.
On Friday, May 30, Hodgson was the only girl to earn a trip to State with a second-place finish in discus, throwing 119’8” and setting a new personal record. While Brandt did not qualify, she also set a PR in the 3200m race with a time of 12:52.07.
The WIAA State Track and Field Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, in La Crosse. Hodgson will first throw on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.
