Robert S. Schaefer of Iron Ridge passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at the age of 97 years.
He was born January 28, 1928, in Hartford, the son of Matt and Rose Schaefer.
Bob had a hobby farm in Iron Ridge for over 55 years; he enjoyed animals and loved raising sheep. He worked at WB Place for over 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert Jr. (Sharon), Mark (Cynthia), and Gail (Marti) Gahlman. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Elroy (Margret); and sisters, Dolores Weis and Rita Bunke; and further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, in 2016 after 65 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home – Hartford (226 South Main St., Hartford, WI, 53027).
Funeral Service will follow visitation, Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Private interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Mayville.
