School Board Clerk, Lisa Bischoff, was appointed to the Board of Education in July of 2023. She also serves as the WASB Delegate - Alternate and on the Curriculum Committee and Facilities and Finance Committee.
Bischoff graduated from Horicon High School and UW-Oshkosh for college. After graduation, she returned to Horicon as a teacher for grades first through third for 33 years. She retired in 2021. Bischoff says that her teaching background provides insight into the inner workings of the school.
Serving on the school board is something that Bischoff is passionate about. “I wanted to serve on the School Board because I am very passionate about education. I believe that our school is a vital part of our community. As a Board member, I use my experience to help guide our district to remain a leader in education,” Bischoff said.
After being on the school board since July of 2023, she said she gained experience working with all staff members of the school, community members and students. Navigating budgets, hiring, maintaining qualified staff members, updating policies and curriculums are all part of her work as the School Board Clerk.
“As a Board member and educator, I am deeply committed to working together to achieve the vision of our district. Our school is a place ‘where everyone discovers success - today, tomorrow and forever,’” she mentioned.
Both Bischoff and her husband are lifelong residents of Horicon and attended the school district. Her son, Aaron, also attended Horicon High School and lives in the area. Bischoff said, “We are all Marshmen for life.”
Outside of serving on the board, she is a trustee and treasurer of the Horicon Public Library Board, School Board Liaison for the Horicon Marshmen Foundation (non-voting member) and participated on the committee that fundraised and brought the Sword Field Athletic Complex to fruition.
Educating, engaging and empowering members of the district is a key part of serving on the board for her.
Bischoff concluded, “During my time as a Board member, I hope to be visible and approachable to all community members, staff and students. I am proud of the way we address challenges and develop solutions, and I am dedicated to guiding our district forward. I welcome input that will help our district become the best it can be.”
