On June 17, Allie Schwirtz and Izabelle McFadden finished up their high school softball careers for the Cardinals in the WFSCA All-Star game in Wisconsin Dells.
When did you start playing softball?
“I started playing softball in tee ball when I was four years old,” said Allie Schwirtz.
“I started playing tee ball at six and playing softball at eight,” said Izabelle McFadden.
My favorite softball moment:
“My favorite softball moment was going to state sophomore year and pitching both games,” said Schwirtz. “My other favorites are playing travel softball with the same girls since I was 10, and we made great memories together.”
“My favorite moment of my softball career is my whole sophomore season,” said McFadden.
Why is softball important to me?
“Softball is important to me because it gave me unbreakable friendships and taught me the importance of working hard while having fun,” said Schwirtz.
“Softball is important to me because it has made up a large portion of my life,” said McFadden.
My biggest influences on my softball career:
“My dad, who put in countless hours of practice with me to make me a better player, and my mom, who always supported me and made me believe I can do anything I put my mind to,” said Schwirtz.
“My biggest influences are the relationships I have made with coaches and teammates,” said McFadden. “These relationships have affected how I interact with others.”
Future softball plans:
“I plan to go to UW-Stevens Point to play softball,” said Schwirtz.
“I see myself always being involved in softball some way,” said McFadden.
“This year, Allie and Izzy stepped up as leaders for the team,” said Head Coach Ashley Krueger. “Both of these girls had accomplished great things throughout their time in the Mayville Softball program.”
“Allie had an awesome season where she achieved the accomplishments of 500 and 600 career strikeouts, plus throwing her first no-hitter during the season,” said Krueger. “Izzy had an amazing season with a .342 batting average and did an awesome job at a new position at shortstop.”
