Mayville High School Revives Distinguished Alumni Program

Mayville High School is bringing back its Distinguished Alumni recognition program, renewing an effort to honor graduates whose accomplishments can serve as an inspiration to current and future students.

The Distinguished Alumni plaque program was originally established in 2011, with the most recent induction taking place in 2021. The school is now seeking nominations as it prepares to restart the recognition.

The program’s mission is to recognize Mayville High School graduates who have made a lasting impact through their careers, communities and personal accomplishments.

“The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes graduates of Mayville High School who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and service in their profession, community or personal endeavors,” the program’s mission statement reads.

Beyond recognizing the accomplishments of former Cardinals, the program is intended to give today’s students examples of what Mayville graduates have gone on to achieve and encourage young people to recognize that they, too, can accomplish great things.

The Distinguished Alumni program will be separate from the district’s established Athletic Hall of Fame, allowing the school to recognize graduates for achievements and contributions across a wide range of professions, community service and other endeavors.

Those selected for the honor — or representatives of posthumous inductees — will be invited to participate in Mayville High School’s graduation ceremony in May. Honorees will also be recognized through the school’s Distinguished Alumni wall plaque program.

The Distinguished Alumni Committee is currently seeking nominations from the community. All nominations must be received by Jan. 1 to be considered.
