Thursday, March 27, 2025 - Mayville - The Mayville High School track team opened the 2025 season in strong fashion at the Princeton/Green Lake Indoor Invite at Ripon College on Friday, March 21. Competing against 14 teams, the boys’ team came away with the overall victory, scoring 92.5 points to edge out Weyauwega-Fremont, 90.5 points, for the title.
The boys’ team was led by Joren Schlender (27 points), Emmerson Mittelstadt (21 points), and Mac Livingston (19 points).
The girls’ team, missing several athletes due to spring break, finished 10th in the team standings. Despite missing five athletes, the girls’ team battled hard and saw strong contributions from Lydia Case (11 points), Destiny Giese (11 points), and Sydney Davis (10 points).
Head coach Bob Berry was pleased with the team's performance, recognizing the effort put in across all events, was encouraged by the early-season performance, and sees room for growth as the season progresses.
"We have a lot of new track athletes, and we should continue to improve as the season goes on," Berry said. "Several athletes still need to find their events, but I was really impressed with the leadership from our returning athletes. They set a great example for the team.”
Looking ahead, Mayville will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 at Watertown for an all-relay meet starting at 10 a.m.
