On a windy and cold Thursday, April 17, the Mayville track and field teams battled through tough conditions at the annual Dodge County Meet hosted by Beaver Dam. Despite the weather, the Cardinals delivered a solid performance, with both the boys and girls teams earning fourth-place finishes in a field of strong local competition.
Mayville recorded 35 top performances on the day, with several athletes stepping up in big ways. Seniors Aubrey Thom and Chase Merritt had standout meets, posting personal bests that surpassed even last year’s marks, despite facing similarly tough weather conditions.
The boys’ 4x100m relay also turned heads, running the fastest time the program has seen in several years. Sophomore Mac Livingston continued to impress with another strong showing, further cementing himself as one of the top underclassmen the program has had in recent memory.
Coach Berry was proud of the team’s resilience, saying, “We had seniors Aubrey Thom and Chase Merritt have one of their best track meets ever. Also, the boys' 400m relay ran the fastest we have in several years. Mac Livingston continues to be one of our best sophomores ever.”
The Cardinals look to carry this momentum into this week as they travel to Campbellsport on Tuesday, April 22.
