Mayville Accepts Land Parcels from Kekoskee

The City of Mayville Common Council held its regular, monthly meeting on Monday, August 11 at 6 p.m.
Council Matters
• The Council introduced and adopted Ordinance 1150-2025 to accept the attachment of parcels 1 and 2 from the Village of Kekoskee.
• In another meeting, discussion was recently had regarding the possibility of adding a sixth tornado siren in the center of the City. Police Chief Ryan Toellner reported the volume of the current five sirens is around 70 decibels in the outer areas of the City. Two options were proposed, and the Council decided on option one, which will involve taking an old siren head, around nine years old, that was located on South German Street, updating it, and placing it at City Hall. The cost of option one is $14,287, and $7,000 will come from each the Emergency Management Fund and contingency.
• The Council aproved pay request no. 1 from Northeast Asphalt in the amount of $620,452.28 for the 2025 asphalt paving/milling project.
• The Council approved a site plan review application from Bayland Buildings Inc. for the property at 650 Furnace Street, Old Fashioned Foods Inc. They will be adding a corridor between two of their buildings.
• Jack Hurst and John Strook were recognized by the Council as they have announced their retirements coming up in September.
