Lomira/Theresa Baseball State Run Ends on Saturday

On August 2, Lomira/Theresa baseball lost 14-4 in five innings in their second game of the state tournament, which ended their attempt to defend their championship title.
Fennimore (11-6) got a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Lomira/Theresa (16-3) responded to score two runs in the second inning after getting the bases loaded, highlighted by Dalton Zingsheim’s RBI double.
Lomira/Theresa was able to take a lead in the top of the third inning thanks to a Weston Poth RBI double, tying up the game at three, and then Poth came around to score to take a 4-3 lead, but Fennimore evened the score at four after three innings.
Fennimore scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the 14-4 win and finished the Bolts’ season with a record of 16-3 during the summer months for the American Legion baseball season.

At Wesby/Coon Valley
On August 1, Lomira/Theresa baseball lost 2-0 to Westby/Coon Valley in their first game of the Class A American Legion baseball tournament in Westby.
Westby/Coon Valley (20-10) scored their first run in the first inning and added a run in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead over Lomira/Theresa (16-3).
The Bolts got a double from Easton Zangl in the sixth inning but weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity to make a comeback in the game.
Westby/Coon Valley held onto the opening round 2-0 win despite a good pitching performance from Weston Poth, with 12 strikeouts from the pitching mound.
