Lomira’s Broeske Scores His 1000th Career Point

On January 12, Lomira boys basketball beat Lake Country Classical Academy 78-20 in a commanding non-conference win for the Lions.
Lomira (10-1) started fast against LCCA (3-9) with a 5-0 lead thanks to a three-pointer from Kincade Todl, and the Lions got a dunk from Jake Broeske on a strong post to start a stretch of 21 consecutive points for Lomira.
During Lomira’s 21-0 scoring run, the Lions got three-pointers from Cooper King, Hunter Duley, and Maddox Bodden, plus eight points from Broeske, to take a huge 28-2 lead over LCCA.
The Lions hit five more three-pointers in the first half, including two made by Cameron Ryan to expand Lomira’s lead to 47-7 at the halftime break.

Lomira didn’t let up in the second half, pushing their lead to 64-11 when Broeske converted in the paint.
The Lions knocked down an impressive 14 three-pointers in the game and got some quality minutes from their bench in the 78-20 non-conference win.
Jake Broeske led Lomira with 16 points to get their tenth win of the season.
Vs Oostburg
On January 8, the Lomira boys’ basketball team lost 73-42 to Oostburg in a non-conference matchup between two ranked teams.
Lomira (10-1) tied up the game at 13 against Oostburg (10-2) when Jake Broeske and Charlie Cole knocked down back-to-back three pointers with 13 minutes left in the first half.
Oostburg was leading by 11 points before Cooper King knocked a three-pointer to close the gap at 24-16, but the Flying Dutchmen went on a 19-4 scoring run to close out the half with a 43-20 halftime lead over the Lions.
The Lions attempted to close the gap in the second half, thanks to eight points from Broeske, but Oostburg was able to maintain a comfortable lead on the scoreboard, 54-30, with nine minutes left in the game.
Lomira wasn’t able to get any closer in the game, which saw Oostburg win the ranked matchup of these good teams by the score of 73-42.
Jake Broeske led the Lions with 13 points in the non-conference matchup.
Vs Omro
On January 6, the Lomira boys’ basketball team defeated Omro 58-46 at home in their Flyway Conference matchup.
Lomira (10-1, 5-0) took a 13-5 lead over Omro (4-7, 1-3) when Keegan Kell knocked his third three-pointer of the game.
The Lions held a 17-7 lead in the first half before the Foxes closed the gap to 25-20 at the halftime break.
Lomira’s Jake Broeske scored his 1,000th point as a Lion on a strong post move to the basket during the Flyway Conference win over Omro.
“I couldn’t be more proud and happy for Jake reaching 1000 career points by battling back from a torn ACL and playing for four different head coaches,” said Head Coach Nick Kohler. “I hope this is his first of many accomplishments in the sport of basketball, and I am glad to be a small part of it.”
Lomira responded with a 14-2 scoring run to start the second half, capped off by two three-pointers by Charlie Cole, giving the Lions a 36-22 lead over the Foxes.
The Lions didn’t let up in the second half by ballooning their lead to 45-26 when Cole scored on a fast-break layup for Lomira.
Lomira was still ahead 51-35 before the team started to trade baskets with the Lions, going home with a 58-46 conference win.
Blake Steger led the Lions with 14 points, and Jake Broeke added 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds in the victory.
Lomira boys basketball will travel to North Fond du Lac on January 16 at 7:30 p.m. and then will travel to play against Ellsworth in La Crosse on January 17 at 9:15 p.m.
