Lomira Volleyball has Conference Opener on Youth Night

Posted

On September 3, Lomira volleyball lost in three sets to Winnebago Lutheran Academy in their Flyway Conference opener on Youth Night.

The opening set of the match was a back-and-forth affair with Lomira (0-3, 0-1) and WLA (4-3, 1-0) trading the lead on multiple occasions.

WLA finally won the lengthy match 30-28 over Lomira, with both teams having the opportunity to win the important first set.

The Vikings went on to win the final two sets by the scores 25-17 and 25-14 to sweep the match by a score of 3-0.

“It was a great team win, and the Lions kept us on the move with great shot selections, yet our defense did a good job throughout the night,” said WLA Head Coach Moriah Hackbarth. “All of our upperclassmen continue to be great leaders and build a fun atmosphere for our team to play in.”

“I am proud of the amount of effort and grit that our show showed,” said Lomira Head Coach Madison Scharenbroch. “ Although we did not get the win, we played and demonstrated a lot of growth.”

Lomira Volleyball will travel to Laconia on September 10 at 7 p.m and to Wautoma on September 12 at 9 a.m.
