Posted

On May 23, Lomira softball beat Omro 13-0 in five innings to win a share of the Flyway Conference Championship for the first time in program history.
Lomira (20-3, 12-2) started off fast against Omro (2-21, 0-14), featuring an opposite-field two-run home run from Taylor Bloohm, giving Lomira a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Bloohm drove in another run in the second inning after a Nora Buske single and a Savanna Frea double to increase the Lions’ lead to 5-0 over the Foxes.
The Lions got another big blast in the top of the fourth inning when Haleigh Caspary went yard with a big two-run home run over the center field fence to give Lomira a 7-0 lead to get them closer to that conference championship.

Lomira took control in the fifth inning with an Izzy Westpahl double and a Trista Gassner single to help get the bases loaded for the Lions.
Gassner and Buske scored on a ball hit by S. Frea to give the Lions a 10-0 lead before Bloohm hit her second two-run home run of the game, with her blast going over the center field fence to expand the Lomira lead to 12-0.
The Lions got their final run from an RBI single from Alaina Lindert to give Lomira the 13-0 win in five innings by scoring over ten runs for the 11th time this season.
Taylor Bloohm and Haleigh Caspary powered the offense by combining for three home runs to give the Lions their ninth straight win and their 17th win in their last 18 games.
Caspary controlled the Omro hitters with her pitching by striking out 11 batters during her four innings pitched in the game.
“We are so proud of this team, with their grittiness, and they battled this season so far by continuing to be in the moment, focusing on one game at a time,” said Head Coach Stacey Clark. “The Flyway Conference is tough, with each game being a challenge, and this is a huge accomplishment for our program, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Go, Lions!”
