Game Two vs Cambria-Friesland
On May 10, Lomira softball defeated Cambria-Friesland 9-2 to cap off their 13th win in their last 14 games.
Lomira (16-3) was trailing 1-0 to Cambria-Friesland (14-3) in the bottom of the first inning when Savanna Frea ripped a double to center to drive in two runs, and Taylor Bloohm followed with an RBI single to give the Lions a 3-1 lead.

The Lions manufactured two runs in the third inning and one more run in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead before Cambria-Friesland scored their second run of the game in the top of the fifth inning to leave the score at 6-2 in favor of Lomira.
Lomira’s batters had two outs against them in the sixth inning when S. Frea hit a single and Bloohm laced a double to center to load the bases for the Lions.
Lillian Christian came through with a single to center to drive in two runs, and Brianna Frea followed suit with an RBI single to increase the Lions’ lead to 9-2.
Savanna Frea and Taylor Bloohm combined for six hits in the 9-2 win, with Lillian Christian collecting the win from the pitching circle after five innings of work.
Game One vs Deerfield
On May 10, Lomira softball won 6-1 over Deerfield in their non-conference matchup to start their day.
Lomira (16-3) got the bases loaded with two outs in the first inning against Deerfield (14-5) when they received a two-run RBI single from Lillian Christian to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lions scored their third run of the game in the second inning when Izzy Westphal sprinted to the plate to give Lomira a 3-0 lead over Deerfield.
Haleigh Caspary drove in the fourth run with two outs against the Lions, with a single to center field in the fourth inning, which extended their lead to 4-0.
Lomira’s Westphal hit a single to right to drive in Brianna Frea in the fifth inning before Deerfield scored their only run of the game in the sixth to put the score at 5-1.
The Lions scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Buske came around to score after getting on base with a double to make the final score 6-1 for Lomira.
Lomira’s balanced lineup combined for 12 hits in the game, with Haleigh Caspary controlling the game from the mound with six strikeouts in the win.
Vs Campbellsport
On May 8, Lomira softball defeated Campbellsport 3-0 on youth night with a no-hitter from senior Nora Buske.
Lomira (14-3, 9-2) took an early l-0 lead over Campbellsport (8-10, 4-7) in the second inning, thanks to a single to right by Lillian Christian, which was followed by Eleanor Collies hitting her single to right field to drive in Christian.
The Lions added two runs in the third inning, featuring an RBI double by Taylor Bloohm and a sac fly by Christian to increase Lomira’s lead to 3-0 over the Cougars.
The three runs was all the Lions would need for the 3-0 win due to a dominating no-hit performance from Buske by striking out 19 Campbellsport Cougars during her impressive outing for the seventh shutout of the season for Lomira. It was also two days after Buske was hit in the shin, causing her to leave the pitching circle against Laconia.
Vs Laconia
On May 6, Lomira softball beat Laconia 5-2 at home to have a three-way tie at the top of the Flyway Conference.
Lomira’s (16-3, 9-2) starting pitcher, Nora Buske, was hit in the shin while pitching in the first inning and had to be replaced by Haleigh Caspary against Laconia (15-5, 9-2).
“We faced a bit of adversity with Nora getting hit in the shin, but our team rebounded with our defense sticking together to support Haleigh, who came in to pitch a great game,” said Head Coach Stacey Clark.
The Lions hit four doubles in the third inning to fuel their offense to score four runs, highlighted by a two-run RBI double hit by Taylor Bloohm to take an impressive 4-0 lead over the Spartans.
“We had a lot of patience at the plate, seeing many pitches which allowed our hitters to attack good strikes,” said Clark.
Laconia hit a two-run home run to close the gap in the game to 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning, but Lomira got one of those runs right back thanks to a Savanna Frea RBI single to push the Lions’ lead back to 5-2 at the end of the fourth inning.
Caspary struck out 10 Spartan batters, and the Lions’ defense held the Spartans at bay for the next three innings to claim the key 5-2 conference victory.
The Lomira offense was paced by Savanna Frea and Nora Buske combining for five hits in the win.
“It was a great night to play softball. We executed our game plan by focusing on the little things like passing the bat and having a lot of energy,” said Clark.
Lomira softball hosted Mayville on May 13. Then the Lions travel to Omro on May 15 at 5 p.m. and to KML on May 16 at 4:45 p.m. Finally, Lomira will host Springs on May 19 at 5 p.m.
