On October 2, the Lomira girls’ cross country team finished in first place with 24 points, and the boys’ team finished in seventh place with 167 points in the small division at the Terry Krall Invitational in Slinger.
“With a powerful display of depth, teamwork, and determination, the Lions captured the team title in commanding fashion, placing five runners in the top ten,” said Head Coach Tyler Witkowski. “Leading the way for Lomira was sophomore Whitney Witkowski, who placed fourth overall with a time of 21:00, setting the tone early with a strong start and smooth finish. Right on her heels, Josie Christian claimed fifth in 21:11, helping to solidify the Lions’ lead early in the race.”
“Veteran runner Hanna Faber followed in seventh place with a time of 22:14, while Izzy Westphal crossed in eighth at 22:43, and Kennedy Goebel rounded out the scoring five with a tenth-place finish in 23:07,” said Witkowski.
It was a total team effort today,” said beaming Assistant Coach Chris Gatzke. “Our girls stayed focused and packed together in the middle miles, which made all the difference on a course that can really test you in the second half.”
