Lomira Boys Basketball Wins Regular Season Finale at Omro

On February 27, Lomira boys basketball beat Omro 47-44 to wrap up their regular season with a conference win.
Lomira (16-8, 9-5) trailed 13-6 to Omro (11-11, 5-9) before the Lions went on to score seven consecutive points to tie the game at 13, highlighted by a Dalton Zingsheim three-point shot.
The Lions trailed 15-13 when their offense heated up, making five three-pointers as a team, featuring two of the threes made by Keegan Kell to give Lomira a 28-20 lead.
Omro scored four points before the Lions finished the first half with a flourish led by Charlie Cole draining back-to-back three-pointers to give Lomira a 36-24 halftime lead over the Foxes.

Cole and Sam Schraufnagel scored early in the second half to extend the Lions’ lead to 40-27 before the Foxes closed the gap on the scoreboard at 42-35.
Lomira’s Schraufnagel converted in the post for two points, then a free throw to push their lead back to 10 points at 45-35.
The Foxes scored the next nine points in the game to make the score 45-44 before Omro had an opportunity to tie the game with a free throw with 44 seconds left in the game.
Lomira got the rebound after Omro missed their free throw to tie the game, which was followed by Jackson Goebel making two important free throws with 27 seconds on the game clock to give the Lions a 47-44 lead.
Omro called a timeout with 23 seconds left to set up their final possession, where the Foxes had a three-point shot bounce off the rim at 10 seconds.
The Foxes got the long offensive rebound in the corner to get another three-pointer off at the basket, but Omro’s last-second heave fell short, giving Lomira a hard-fought 47-44 conference victory.
Lomira was led by Charlie Cole’s 13 points and Keegan Kell’s 10 points in the victory.
Five-seed Lomira boys basketball will host 12-seed Necedah in the first round of the Division 4 WIAA Tournament on March 4 at 7 p.m.
