On May 2, Lomira lost 5-2 to Waupun at home in a non-conference matchup on a cool, May evening.
Lomira (9-6) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning over Waupun (15-2) when their offense got going with a Kolton Wagoner single.

Dalton Zingsheim hit an RBI single to left field with one out to drive in Wagoner. The Lions were able to load the bases for Jonah Mason, who hit a single to center to have another run cross the plate for Lomira in the inning to put their lead at 2-0 over the Warriors.
Waupun responded with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead and added two more runs in the fifth inning, which proved to be the final score of 5-2 in favor of the Warriors.
“Jack and Jackson were strong on the mound for us, allowing only two earned runs and striking out seven Waupun batters,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman.
At Springs
On April 30, Lomira beat Springs 10-4 to split the season series after the game was moved up a day due to the upcoming rain in the forecast for Thursday.
Lomira (9-6, 5-3) scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead over Springs (4-6, 3-5) thanks to RBI singles from Easton Zangl, Jack Luedtke, and Weston Poth.
The Lions were just getting started with their offense when J. Luedtke hit an RBI double in the third, and Zangl hit another RBI single for Lomira in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
Lomira scored five more runs in the fifth inning, featuring RBI singles from Zangl and Dalton Zingsheim to take a commanding 10-0 lead over the Ledgers before Springs responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the score at 10-2.
Springs scored one run apiece in the sixth and seventh innings to close the gap at 10-4, but there would be no Ledgers’ comeback for the second consecutive day with Lomira heading home with the 10-4 conference victory.
Easton Zangl and Jack Luedtke combined for six hits and five runs batted in for the Lions’ offense, which aided Dalton Zingsheim’s strong five innings on the pitching mound in the victory.
“I am really happy with the turnaround we saw from the team today,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman. “We have seen adversity throughout this season, and it’s nice to see the boys respond to get the job done.”
“It was nice to see Dalton bounce back from his last start, and he really had his good stuff today,” said Lehman.
Vs Springs
On April 29, Lomira lost 8-6 to Springs in the first matchup of their two-game series.
Lomira (9-6, 5-3) trailed 1-0 to Springs (4-6, 3-5) after the top of the first inning when the Lions’ offense responded with four runs of their own, started off by back-to-back singles from Brody Luedtke and Kolton Wagoner.
Easton Zangl hit a two-run home run over the left field fence, then Weston Poth had an RBI single to finish off the Lions’ scoring in the first inning to take a 4-1 lead over Springs.
The Lions got a leadoff solo blast from Jackson Goebel in the fourth inning to extend the Lions’ lead to 5-1 before the Ledgers scored a run in the fifth inning to tighten the game at 5-2.
Lomira got an RBI double from Poth to push their lead to 6-2 before Springs responded by scoring five runs of their own to take a 7-6 lead over the Lions.
Springs tacked on a final run in the top of the seventh inning, resulting in the 8-6 comeback victory for the hosting Lions.
The Lions were led by Easton Zangl and Weston Poth, each driving in two runs apiece in the Flyway contest.
Lomira baseball traveled to Mayville on May 6 and hosts Mayville on May 8. Then they travel to Random Lake on May 9. All games begin at 5 p.m.
