On May 9, Lomira baseball won 13-6 against Random Lake on the road in their non-conference matchup.
Random Lake (13-4) scored the first run of the game in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over Lomira (10-8).
The Lions’ offense got going in the second inning with three singles from Jack Luedtke, Dalton Zingsheim, and Jackson Goebel to load the bases, which resulted in an RBI walk from Jonah Mason to tie the game at one.
Lomira still had the bases loaded in the inning with two outs when Brody Luedtke blasted a grand slam over the left-field fence to give the Lions a 5-1 lead.
“Brody’s grand slam set the table for us, and everyone fed off his success,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman.
The Lions’ hot bats continued in the fourth inning, scoring four more runs, highlighted by RBI singles from Kolton Wagoner and B. Luedtke to extend their lead to 8-1 over the Rams.
Random Lake scored five runs over the next two innings to tighten up the game back at 8-6 after five innings, with Lomira in the lead.
B. Luedtke got his third hit of the game in the top of the sixth inning to spark the Lions’ offense, which was followed by RBI doubles from Easton Zangl and J. Luedtke to help Lomira score four runs in the inning to expand the Lions’ lead to 12-6 over Random Lake.

The Lions’ offense was led by Easton Zangl and Jack Luedtke, with each player getting three hits apiece in the win, and J. Luedtke striking out seven Rams from the pitching mound.
“Jack really impressed me by bouncing back from a frustrating day on Thursday on the mound to pitching the way he did today,” said Lehman. “I’m happy with how we bounced back from earlier this week with two disappointing one-run losses and came out ready to play today with the understanding that each day is a new day and to take every opportunity by making the most of it.”

The Lions weren’t able to get anymore runs across the plate resulting in Mayville sweeping the season series with a 12-11 comeback victory.
Lomira was paced by Weston Poth and Easton Zangl, combining for three doubles, resulting in six runs batted in.
“I thought we played well today offensively with four extra base hits and four stolen bases. It was nice to see the offense respond from one run scored on Tuesday to put up 11 runs,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman. “We are going to continue to work on shoring up our mistakes as well as focus on having the right approach at the plate like we did tonight.”
