Lions Winning Streak Reaches Nine Games

On May 11, Lomira softball defeated Mishicot 12-1 on the road for its ninth straight win.
Lomira (17-2) broke the scoreless tie in the third inning when Izzy Westphal and Kennedy Goebel scored runs after the Lions got the bases loaded with two outs to take a 2-0 lead over Mishicot (8-13).
Haleigh Caspary hit a two-run RBI single with two outs in the fifth inning to increase the Lions’ lead to 4-0.
Mishicot scored a run in the sixth inning, which was the first run allowed in the last 54 innings by Lions’ pitching, putting the score 4-1 in favor of the Lions.

The Lions’ offense showed off their deep lineup with seven runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by Eleanor Collies driving in three runs on a single and double, plus Trista Gassner driving in two runs on a single to blow open the game with a 12-1 lead.
Haleigh Caspary and Lily Christian combined to strike out 13 Indians in the 12-1 non-conference victory.
Eleanor Collies, Trista Gassner, and Caspary combined to drive in eight runs for the Lions.
Lomira Tournament
On May 9, Lomira softball beat Brookfield Academy 11-0 in five innings at home for their eight consecutive shutout victory.
Lomira (17-2) scored six runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead over Brookfield Academy (11-8), featuring two-run RBi singles from Brianna Frea and Lily Christian.
The Lions added four runs in the third inning and one run in the fifth inning, highlighted by a Cali Steger RBI single to secure an 11-0 win in five innings in their second game of the day.
Lily Christian and Tori Thomas combined to pitch a no-hitter during their combined five innings in the pitching circle.
Kennedy Goebel and Christian combined to drive in four runs for the Lions in the non-conference victory.
Lomira softball defeated Cambria-Friesland 1-0 in the first game of the day on the home diamond.
Lomira (17-2) and Cambria-Friesland (13-3) were tied 0-0 in a pitcher’s duel in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Kennedy Goebel hit a RBI single to right field to drive in Addy Behnke to score the winning run for the Lions.
Haleigh Caspary and Lily Christian combined to strike out 12 batters and allowed one hit in the walk-off victory for Lomira.
Vs Laconia
On May 7, Lomira softball defeated Laconia 6-0 at home to sweep the season series between the two teams.
Lomira (17-2, 10-1) scored runs by Brianna Frea and Izzy Westphal after getting the bases loaded in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead over Laconia (10-3, 7-3).
The Lions got a two-out double from Eleanor Collies to drive in two runs in the third inning to increase their lead to 4-0 over the Spartans.
Collies led off the sixth inning with a single, followed by Frea’s two-run RBI single to push their lead to 6-0.
Haleigh Caspary finished the game on the mound with the team’s sixth straight shutout by striking out 12 Laconia batters for the 6-0 conference win.
Eleanor Collies led the offense with three hits and two runs batted in for the Lions.
Vs Springs
On May 5, Lomira softball beat Springs 10-0 in five innings at home for their fifth straight shutout conference win.
Lomira (17-2, 10-1) scored three runs in the first inning after the Lions got the bases loaded with singles from Trista Gassner and Brianna Frea before Haleigh Caspary hit a two-run RBI single to help Lomira take a 3-0 lead over Springs (4-7, 3-5).
The Lions got an RBI double from Gassner in the second inning to increase their lead to 4-0 over the Ledgers.
Lomira was facing two outs in the fourth inning when Gassner hit a single to start the offense, then was followed by Frea’s two-run double and Izzy Westphal’s RBI triple to push the Lions’ lead to 7-0.
Caspary hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to get the Lomira offense going, and the game was finished in the fifth thanks to RBI singles from Ryley Warner and Kennedy Goebel for the 10-0 Lomira win in five innings.
Haleigh Caspary had another stellar pitching performance, allowing two hits and striking out nine batters to earn the win for the Lions.
Brianna Frea, Trista Gassner, and Caspary powered the Lomira offense with seven hits and five runs batted in the conference victory.
Lomira softball traveled to Omro on May 12 after print time. The Lions will host Campbellsport on May 14 and will travel to Springs on May 18, with game times at 5 p.m.
