On March 30, Lomira softball won its season opener 10-0 in five innings over Horicon.
Lomira (1-0) scored four runs in the first inning, featuring a two-run RBI single from Lily Christian to take a 4-0 lead over Horicon (0-1) after the first inning.
Kennedy Goebel scored a run in the second inning to increase the Lions’ lead to 5-0 at the conclusion of the second inning.
Lomira added three more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run over the center field fence by Christian to give the Lions a commanding 8-0 lead over Horicon.
The Lions finished the game in five innings thanks to RBI singles by Westphal and Kaelyn Tisdale to win the game by the score of 10-0.
Haleigh Caspary and Lily Christian combined for a no-hitter on the mound for the opening day win for Lomira.
Christian led the Lions offense with two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs in the game.
Lomira softball will travel to Mayville on April 7 at 5 p.m and to New Holstein on April 10 at 4:30 p.m. The Lions will host Winnebago Lutheran Academy on April 9 at 5 p.m.
