On Feb 26-28, Lomira wrestling sent two wrestlers (Jordan Lisiecki and Kolton Wagnoer to compete in the WIAA State Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Lisiecki (39-6) finished his junior year on the state podium with a fourth-place finish in his 132-pound class.
Lomira’s Lisiecki won his first two matches on Thursday night but lost to the eventual state champion McAllister Rampage in the semifinals before falling in his third-place match by a 7-4 decision.
It is the second straight year Lisiecki finished on the podium with a fourth-place finish at the state tournament.
“I’m going to be a little disappointed in myself for coming up short of my state title goal for this year, but the more you take the time to think about how special of an opportunity it is to even be there, you start realizing that a cooler medal doesn’t equate to anything in life,” said Jordan Lisieck. “It is more about the journey of sharing the experience with the people you love.”
“So I’m very grateful ot represent my family, teammates, and coaches because they’ve supported me from the very beginning and believed in me when sometimes it’s hard to believe in yourself,” said Lisiecki.
Wagoner (30-20) finished his high school wrestling career on Friday afternoon after two matches at state in the consolation bracket.
