On Feb 14, the Lomira boys wrestling team advanced to team sectionals by finishing in fifth place with 113.5 at the Cedar Grove-Belgium Individual sectional wrestling meet.
Jordan Lisiecki finished in second place in his 132-pound class to advance to the state individual tournament for the third time in his career at Lomira as a junior.
Lisiecki won his second-place match by rule over his opponent from Living Word Lutheran to finish his day with a 4-1 record in the meet.
“I’m proud of making it to state, but that was never the final destination with my goal of winning state since last year,” said Jordan Lisiecki. “It means a lot to go to state as a Lomira Lion, and I believe I have the chance to make a bigger statement for the community, plus it’s also amazing to share this experience with Kolton, he earned it.”
Senior Kolton Wagoner advanced to his first state wrestling tournament in the 165-pound class over Mayville’s Dominic Schuelke by fall in 3:27 to complete an impressive 5-1 day at the sectional meet.
“I think it’s pretty cool, especially after falling short last year, and it’s been a goal of mine all year, so I think its huge plus I am glad ot be participating,” said Kolton Wagoner. “Representing Lomira is huge to me, as wrestling has been a huge part of growing up here, and to see the amount of supportthe community gives is awesome.”
Lisiecki received a four-seed at the state tournament at the Kohl Center on February 26-28, and Wagoner was seeded 13th in his weight class for the state meet.
“State Qualifiers Jordan and Kolton lead the way,” said Head Coach Jamie Feucht. “ Jayden was a warrior in one of the toughest brackets, when he fought against talented wrestlers and an injury and finished his day with a big pin.”
“We saw some great wrestling from CJ, Cleary, Brennan, and Brayden,” said Feuct. “I am proud of all of the wrestlers on this team as they continue pushing each other to improve every day.”
Lomira boys wrestling has team sectionals at Cedar Grove-Belgium on Feb. 21.
