Jake Broeske scored eight straight points for the Lions to give them a 22-19 lead before Talan Meyer scored consecutive points to give Mayville a 23-22 lead, causing the Lomira to call a timeout with nine minutes left in the first half.
The Lions reclaimed the lead at 25-23 when Broeske received a pass from Blake Steger to throw a down a two-handed dunk over the Cardinals’ defense.
Mayville wouldn’t go away with three-pointers from Landen Baker and Meyer to put the score at 31-30, but the Lions responded with a finish at the rim from Steger and a three-pointer from Kell to give Lomira a 36-32 halftime lead.
Tate Drinkwine hit a three for Mayville to start the second half, then Steger and Broeske combined to score 12 points, featuring a corner three from the big man Broeske to push the Lions’ lead to 50-39 with 13:29 left in the second half.

Senior point guard Hunter Duley has an all-around game with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead the Lions on the offensive and defensive ends of the court.
Talan Meyer was the leading scorer with 19 points for the Cardinals during Senior Night.
Jake Broeske’s 23 points and Blake Steger’s 20 points, plus Charlie Cole’s 17 points, led the way for Lomira in their convincing 83-59 road win over their rivals from Mavyille.
“Couldn’t be prouder of the guys, and I am extremely lucky to have the players that I do in my first year,” said Head Coach Nick Kohler. “I think we are playing some of our best basketball in the last weeks, which is a good thing going into the playoffs.”
“As I told our guys, we can beat anyone in the state, but we have to continue to get better every single day, and take no team for granted,” said Kohler. “Don’t care if we are up or down 20, we need to be taking charges, diving for loose balls, and everything else will take care of itself.” I am looking forward to this run with this group of guys.”
Lomira boys basketball is the number one seed and will host the winner of Nekoosa/ Necedah on March 6 at 7 p.m. The Lions would host the Regional Final on March 7 at 7 p.m. with a win.
