On May 18, On May 18, Lomira baseball lost 12-0 to Waupun in five innings on the road in their non-conference matchup.
Waupun (16-5) scored two runs in the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead over Lomira (4-15).
The Warriors added two runs in three innings and four innings in the fourth inning to get the 12-0 win over the Lions.
Vs Markesan
On May 15, Lomira baseball beat Markesan 9-8 in eight innings at home in a walk-off win.
Markesan (13-6) built a 4-0 lead over Lomira (4-15) going into the bottom of the second inning when Jackson Blooohm led off the inning with a single, followed by a RBI double from Nathan Leiter to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Hornets.
Lomria got an RBI single from Cooper King in the fourth inning after Markesan scored a run in the top of the fourth, and the Hornets added three runs in the fifth to give Markesan an 8-2 lead over the Lions.
The Lions started to turn the game around in the fifth inning with a Dawson Casper leadoff single followed by a Charlie Cole double to set up Kolton Wagoner’s two-run RBI single to close the gap at 8-4.
Bloohm hit a single, and Leiter hit his third double of the game to drive in a run to make the score 8-5 in favor of the Hornets.
Kolton Wagoner hit a double with one out before Bloohm hit an RBI double for the Lions to place the score at 8-6 with Lomira facing two outs.
Lomira got an RBI single from Leiter and a Logan Wendler RBI double to tie the game at eight to force the game into extra innings with all of the momentum to the Lions.
Wagoner got his fourth hit of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning to drive in Cole to win the game 9-8 for the Lions.
Kolton Wagoner, Nathan Leiter, and Jackson Bloohm combined for 11 hits and eight runs batted in the comeback victory for the Lions.
“I am proud of the guys for not giving up throughout the game by playing resilient baseball,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman. “I’m happy for Kolton for a walk-off hit as a senior and Miles for pitching really well to start his career on Varsity.”
“Nathan had a really good game at the plate with four hits,” said Lehman. “We really stepped up as a team to pick each other up and ‘pass the baton to the next person.”
At Springs
On May 14, Lomira baseball lost 12-2 in six innings to Springs on the road in the second game of their season series.
Springs (13-5, 9-3) scored three runs in the first and third innings, plus two more in the fourth, to take an 8-0 lead over Lomira (4-15, 2-10).
Lomira’s Blake Coblentz scored a run in the fifth before the Ledgers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 10-1.
Jackson Bloohm hit a solo home run over the left field fence for the Lions in the sixth inning to put the score at 10-2.
Springs added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the 12-2 conference victory.
Vs Springs
On May 12, Lomira baseball lost 4-1 to Springs at home in their Flyway conference matchup.
Springs (13-5, 9-3) broke the scoreless tie and took a 2-0 lead in the third inning over Lomira (4-15, 2-10).
Lomira’s Nathan Leiter hit a leadoff single in the fifth inning, which resulted in pinch runner Emmitt Todl scoring the only run for the Lions to make the score 2-1.
The Ledgers added two runs in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 4-1.
“We played well tonight, but just weren’t able to get the offense going,” said Head Coach Sid Lehman. “I’m proud of the growth Logan has shown, and he has really started to come into his own as a pitcher.”
Lomira baseball traveled to Campbellsport on May 19 after print time. The Lions will host Campbellsport on May 21 at 5 p.m.
