Leroy Meats Receives Multitude of Awards and Honorable Mentions at Convention

Posted

For over 80 years, Leroy Meats has provided fresh, high-quality meat and sausage products to local patrons. At the 2026 Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors Convention during the weekend of April 11, the business once again proved its prowess in creating sensational products on one of the industry’s biggest stages.

The Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors (WAMP) Convention is “the largest cured meat product show in the United States,” providing a space for association members “to have their products judged and rated.”

This year, over 40 meat processing businesses participated in the championship, amassing a total of 768 entries in 40 different categories of fresh and cooked products. Leroy Meats was one of those businesses and took home four awards, winning first place for its chicken snack stick, third place for its chicken piccata entree and chorizo bratwurst, and fourth place for its jelly loaf. The business also received five honorable mentions for its Buck N Bite venison stick, smoked Italian mozzarella sausage, tri-tip stir fry entree, Philly cheese potato sausage, and Cowboy Butter All-American patty.

“[These awards] show that we continue to keep high standards. That’s not only shown by our repeat customers on a daily basis but also by those industry experts who are tasting our products and the products of all the other similar businesses that are very talented as well,” stated Leroy Meats co-owner Steve Christian. “It makes me proud that we are still able to bring in the right people and continue to produce great products.”

Along with having the “right people,” tradition was another one of the key ingredients in Leroy Meats’ recipe for success at the convention.

“It’s just the process that has been passed down year-to-year to me from previous owners and previous employees,” said Christian. “We continue to pass them on to our employees and just make sure we’re not cutting corners to produce top-notch products.”

While Leroy Meats strives to achieve even greater success at future championships, Christian expressed that simply being a member of the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors is an honor in itself.

“We’re a tight-knit group, per se. We all are individuals in our business and what our businesses look like, but we all have the same goal: to continue to produce top-notch products for our customers,” Christian stated. “To be able to have an association that supports us and even other members that support each other is very helpful in this industry. I’m glad to be a part of that organization.”

Support from others–whether customers, other businesses, or associations–is imperative in facing obstacles that inevitably will arise when operating a business. Leroy Meats hopes to continue the momentum from its convention success to help it overcome an upcoming challenge.

“This summer at our Fox Lake location, we have some road construction going on for the entire season,” explained Christian. “There is direct access to us at all times. We would greatly appreciate your patronage to help us get through this road construction period.”
