On January 9, Lomira girls’ basketball defeated Campbellsport, 58-35, during the program’s youth night, for the conference matchup at home.
Lomira’s (11-2, 4-1) Josie Christian started the game off fast with the first eight points of the game, which included two three-pointers to give the Lions an 8-0 lead over Campbellsport (1-11, 0-5).
The Christian cousins, Josie and Lily, combined for six points to push their lead to 17-6. Then J. Christian continued her stellar all-around play by causing havoc on defense with deflections and steals for the Lions, which fueled her offense, as Josie scored the nine points to power the Lions to a 29-11 lead.
Kennedy Goebel knocked her second three-pointer of the first half, and J. Christian scored another six points in the first half, which gave her an impressive 28 points in the first half and the Lions a 42-17 halftime lead.
J. Christian knocked down two three-pointers in the second half to give her six made threes in the game and gave the Lions a 52-22 lead.
Campbellsport got the score to 54-33 in the second half before J. Christian scored her final four points of the game, which showcased her overall shooting ability, even with the Cougars’ defense having a defender in her face on the majority of her shot attempts.
The Lions took the 58-35 conference victory.
Josie Christian powered the Lions on the night with an all-around game on the court with 38 points and nine steals to get the win against the Cougars.
Lomira girls’ basketball hosted WLA on January 13 after the print deadline and will travel to NFDL on January 16 at 7 p.m.
