John A. Falk, 67, of Mayville passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
A private family memorial service for John will be held and a public celebration of John’s life will take place on Saturday, April 19, at the St. Andrew Hall in LeRoy from 1 to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed in John’s name to ‘Baggin for a Cure’, a local non-profit organization that works as a community to help families that have or are currently battling cancer. ‘Baggin for a Cure’ helped support John during his battle with lung cancer.
John was born the son of Arthur and Zorka (Malesivich) Falk on April 18, 1957, in Beaver Dam. He was a 1975 graduate of Mayville High School. John had worked for the Wisconsin Southern Railroad for his entire career.
He was united in marriage to Denette Gourlie on September 3, 1993, in Juneau, where he gained a son, Nicholas. His daughter, Caitlin Rose, was born on June 21, 1999, at St Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
John was a tough as nails, hardworking, simple man who enjoyed many things including the outdoors, hockey, Nascar, WWE, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, bourbon, and LOVED an ice cold Mountain Dew. He also deeply cherished his family and the time spent with them. His smile and laugh will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
John is survived by his wife, Denette, of Mayville; his son, Nicholas (Carrie) Schroeder; his daughter, Caitlin (Neil Johnson) Falk; his canine companions, Millie and Maggie; further survived by his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Additionally, the family would like to give a sincere thank you to the Waupun Hospital ER staff, the St. Agnes ICU nurses (Amy)/fifth floor nursing staff (Hannah Pecora), and the first responders (Tracy and Cora Gerth) for their kindness, thoughtfulness, and a clear passion towards their careers that did not go unnoticed during John’s last days with us. Thank you.
