Husticon Football Plays Home Opener Against Cambridge

Posted

On September 11, Husticon football lost 50-8 to Cambridge in their home opener for the 2026 season in their Eastern Suburban Conference matchup.

Cambridge (2-2, 1-1) held a 28-0 halftime lead over Husticon (0-4, 0-2) before quarterback Anthony Kluck scored a rushing touchdown in the third quarter to make the score 28-8.

The Blue Jays scored 22 points in the second half to get the 50-8 road victory over the Marshfalcons.

“Cambridge is a really good football team that is coached really well,” said Husticon Head Coach Andrew Selgrad. “We fought hard all night and never stopped playing, getting some stops on defense by getting turnovers and making good plays against a high-powered offense.”

“Offensively, we were able to move the ball and had some nice plays,” said Selgrad. “We have to clean up the penalties, and that is on me. I need to do a better job with that.”

“It was great being home with Sword Field is such a gift from our community, and it is a cool atmosphere to be a part of,” said Selgrad.

Husticon will host Belleville on September 18 at 7 p.m.
