Horicon Upsets Pardeeville in Crossover Trailways Conference Thriller

The Horicon boys’ basketball team delivered a major upset on Monday, Dec. 22, defeating the previously undefeated Pardeeville squad with a final score of 66-58. Both teams entered the crossover Trailways Conference contest with undefeated records.
The game started with high energy. Horicon jumped out to an early lead, highlighted by a three-pointer from Jay Graven at the 12:10 mark of the first half, making the score 6-2. Moments later, Isaiah Hollinsgworth capitalized on a Pardeeville error, stealing a bad pass and racing downcourt for a fast-break score, pushing the lead to 10-6.
Horicon continued to build momentum into the second half. At the 15:27 mark, Graven once again made a huge play, stealing the ball and converting a layup to give Horicon a commanding 34-27 advantage. The run continued as Barrett Meyer recovered a loose ball and scored a layup, followed by back-to-back three-pointers from Quin Jackl and Graven, respectively, extending the lead to 42-29.
Pardeeville fought hard to close the gap, but Horicon’s defense proved too much. With only a minute-and-a-half left in the game, Jackl secured a rebound in a scramble and scored two crucial points, putting the score at 58-50. Horicon held on to the lead to close out the game, pulling off the 66-58 upset and handing Pardeeville their first loss of the season.
This week, the Marshmen traveled to Central Wisconsin Christian after print time on Tuesday, Jan. 6. They return home on Friday, Jan. 9 for a game against Oakfield at 7:15 p.m.
